From a very young age Ian was encouraged to sing by his mother and his primary school deputy head, who often put on shows performed by pupils. After primary school, opportunities fell as other interests took hold, though the shower was always a good sounding for whatever recent chart song was stuck in his head.
Ian left school and earned an apprenticeship as a Service Engineer. He picked up singing in public again at karaoke nights in his local bar, which is where he met Wayne. Wayne talked Ian into going on stage as a duo (with the promise of Wayne doing all the talking!), which they did successfully for a year, despite having the misguided name “Hot Fudge” which had many people expecting strippers (that's another story). In return he introduced Wayne to his wife. They are still friends though, and occasionally get together to perform as “The Jack Morgan Duo”, though the talking is shared a bit more evenly now.
After Hot Fudge disbanded, Ian returned to DJ work, covering some of the premier venues in the North East including Gosforth Park Racecourse, The Copthorne Hotel, and Gateshead Hilton. Although this satisfied some of his appetite for music Ian always wanted to return to professional singing, so in 2009 he set out on his own. After overcoming nerves and some major set changes over the first few months he was able to turn a paid hobby into a living.
Ian now sings in venues all over the North East, North Yorkshire, and Cumbria with full PA and lighting.
When not on stage or rehearsing he spends his time with fiancée Lisa and two children. In 2012 Ian became involved in amateur dramatics and has since performed in numerous shows and plays, regularly taking on leading roles in both. It leaves little free time, but he loves it.
